Washington December 14 administration leaders won a Senate vote defeating Senator Vandenberg's plan to cap the farm bill cost at 500 million dollars a year. The chamber erupted as he demanded action, nine Democrats joined, and the proposal went down 49 to 23. The bill's price remains limited only by funds available to administer it.

Thomas I. Bolton aged 49, a four year United States marshal for Montana, died at a local hospital after surgery for a ruptured stomach ulcer. Bolton previously served three terms as Stillwater county sheriff and moved to Billings in 1928 to assume marshal duties for four years.

Removal Ordered for Chinese Descent in Narco Conspiracy Case
The U S District Judge ordered removal of Chin Joe Hip alias Albert H Chinn and Chin Joe Hip Jr alias Howard Chinn from Butte to the Southern District of New York for trial on narcotics conspiracy charges. The Anaconda Copper Mining Company gave nearly 20 000 acres of cut over forest land to the Montana Forest and Conservation Experiment Station at Montana State University.
