Washington dispatch reports Senator Robinson of Arkansas pressing for a full relief program with bonds or higher taxes as Democrats rebuke President Hoover for charging politics with human misery. The $110 million emergency works measure advances slowly amid the clash.
In Yukon Territory two months after a sea plane vanished in the frozen wilderness, Bob Marten and Emil Kading were found alive near the Liard river headwaters. Pilot Everett Wasson reported their survival and Burke’s death from exposure on November 20.
Bartender Joseph McDevitt was acquitted of murder in the October 5 shooting of Neil Shea, a 24 year old Butte youth, at a soft drink parlor. Jurors deliberated 17 hours and inspected the crime scene before reaching 16 ballots in favor of acquittal.
Pete Nafich, 42, was found guilty of murder by a jury in Montana. Judge Jeremiah J. Lynch denied a motion for deferral of sentence on insanity grounds. Narich will serve life with hard labor in the state prison at Deer Lodge after the July slain incident at the Ford hotel involving Mrs. Busie Parker.
Santa Clara Cal Dec 10 The funeral mass of Rev Jerome Sixtus Ricard SJ Padre of the Rains will be held at Santa Clara mission chapel at 10 am tomorrow. Father Ricard a professor of astronomy at Santa Clara was noted for his sun spot theory of weather prediction.
Brig. Gen. George Earnhardt, commander at Fort Bliss, received a blood transfusion in an effort to prolong life as he suffers blood poisoning from an infected toe. Hospital bulletins reported his condition unchanged and officials warned he might not survive the night.
Four masked bandits robbed the Interstate National Bank in the Kansas City Livestock Exchange building, taking about 45 000 dollars and holding 24 employees, including 10 young women, captive for nearly an hour before fleeing as police were short staffed for identification.
Paris December 10 Senator Pierre Laval announced he could not form a government after attempts at conciliation between right and left factions. Laval said he informed President Doumergue he and Louis Barthou must renounce the task, noting ongoing conflict.
The twenty ninth annual Butte Joshers club charity show pours local talent onto Broadway Theater tonight. Proceeds fund Christmas baskets for needy Butte families, with all expenses donated by participants and sponsors. Merle Davis predicts a packed house as community support reaches new heights.
Anaconda December 10. The Silver Bow area council executive committee met at the Montana hotel with almost all board members present. Paul N. Campbell reported growth, with seven troops outside Butte and an expectation to double by December 31 1931 to nine in Anaconda three in Deer Lodge and five in Dillon under district leadership of A. L. Krause.
Four people were wounded in a gun battle after a raid on the First State Bank of Frankston. Deputies and constables pursued the suspects for miles in a mud stalled car, halting the flight 12 miles from town. The raiders and officers exchanged fire as the pursuit broke up.
Havana reports fresh clashes between students and police in multiple areas leaving one student dead and others wounded. A fight at the rail terminal occurred as authorities moved detainees to Havana. President Machado has not invoked emergency powers yet.
A report from the Department of Agriculture quarantine bureau details twenty insect species intercepted at Lakehurst during the Graf Zeppelin flight to Washington in 1929. Unlike other stowaways they died ignominiously in a fumigator after landing on August 4, 1929.
The National Association of Citations Supporting the Eighteenth Amendment formed a 12 member combined committee on unified strategy to aid prohibition for the 1932 presidential campaign. The move follows the annual meeting of 35 city organizations aimed at presenting a solid front on legislative and political prohibition issues.
The La Critique editor at the University of Chicago argues college drinkers are in need of moderation and better liquor. He says most beverages consumed are inferior and dangerous, urging undergraduates to drink less and choose quality bourbons and gentlemanly conduct.

The Chronicle reports the senate appropriation committee approved an amendment to the post office bill authorizing $750,000 for the Northern Airways mail route from St. Paul to Seattle. Cities along the route protested the proposed cut, and Senator C. C. accused the department of dropping the appropriation, vowing to fight on the senate floor if needed.
Jean Doyle, 21, confessed to killing and robbing Sam Frank, a 65 year old Memphis jewelry auctioneer, in his Salt Lake City hotel room after a four hour interrogation. She said she acted alone, claiming the true name Wilma Gates and stating there was nobody with her.
Representative Linthicum of Maryland circulated invitations to all House members to join an unofficial wet bloc. He also called a meeting of the full committee on modification of the Volstead act for next Tuesday to draft anti prohibition legislation.
Lieutenant Governor Frank Hazel baker of Montana described the British dole system as distinctly unsatisfactory in a talk with Speaker Longworth. He said idle workmen would prefer jobs to relying on government aid.
The forecast calls for fair conditions in the eastern region both days while the western portion remains unsettled. Colder temperatures are expected in the east Thursday.
