Mare AUbén Foppar died Tuesday in a local hospital after an illness. Born in Pyin Idaho she lived in Butte 26 years. Survivors include husband Hanford Topparl daughters Gwenda Thel sean Clayton Karnley Lynta Marie mother Mrs Margaret Brat ton all of Butte and brothers-in-law.
The deceased is remembered by brothers and sisters in law and several nephews and nieces. The body is at Doggan's Merrill mortuary.
Army enlisted men will sit on all Army courts martial boards under an executive order signed by President Truman. The changes, effective Feb. 1, aim to improve military justice, including presuming the accused innocent and banning coercion or improper influence in obtaining confessions. Secretary Royall cites civilian advisory and veterans groups support.
The Daughters of the Nile will be entertained Friday at 2 o'clock in the home of Mrs. K W McPherson with Mrs. Sam Harris as hostess.
In Deer Lodge on December 7 Pawell nost American Legion and its auxiliary will entertain district commander Raymond Schilling and district president Mrs. Maurice Alex at a Thursday meeting in city hall. Separate pilots precede a social hour and joint program. Both leaders will address their groups. Christy Matheson and Mrs. Jessie Truscott will preside at the Christians party. Hostesses include Mrs. J Maurice Dietrich Mrs F Hi Foster and Mrs Charles Hubbard.
St Mary Guild meets Thursday at 829 Missouri with Mrs Joe Goy and Mrs William Speck hosting. Final plans for the annual pre holiday bazaar to be held Saturday at St Mary hall, with Mrs Clara Lavis presiding as president.
In Deer Lodge on December 7 the Powell County High School Key Club met with Dan Mizner to brief members on Robert's Roles for a luncheon. Presbyterian Guild plans a Thursday meeting at 1 30 PM at the Guild hall with Hiwanians in attendance including IM Bryan and Robert Wyckoff.
Uranium potential found at the old Caribou silver mine near Boulder Colorado. Geologist G O Ridland of Denver calls it the best uranium bearing pitchblende deposit seen in the continent and notes it could reduce US uranium imports. Production may begin by spring with 150 men to be employed if explorations prove favorable.
Board of Trustees of Silver Bow County Montana district announces sale of school district bonds totaling 200000 dollars to fund building and equipment. Bonds are amortization or serial, dated January 1 1949, bearing up to 8 percent interest, maturing over 120 years. Bid forms and certified checks required, auction at 6:00 p.m. December 1 1948 at 111 North Montana Street.
