Helena December 7 Howard A Johnson Butte attorney took the oath as Montana Supreme Court chief justice the seventh to hold the post. Elected November 8 to fill the unexpired term of the late W B Sands he begins a term ending 1940 and is the first Montana University law school graduate on the bench. He signed an order allowing filing of a brief within minutes of assuming office. Anna Hahn Dies in Ohio Electric Chair

Former Butte businessman Edward Woodland dies in East
Edward Woodland 56 a former manager of Montana Hardware died in Albert Lea Minnesota after learning of his death by a message to his son Melvin Woodland. He came to Butte as a traveling salesman for F K Hardware of St Paul and in 1913 became Montana Hardware manager. In 1928 he joined Murray Hospital but soon moved to Salt Lake City. He will be buried or funeral arranged Friday afternoon in Albert Lea.
