New Orleans readies for the Huey P Long Bridge linking the Mississippi River to rail and road traffic. The 314.5 million structure uses caissons and willow mats to protect pier foundations and will dramatically shorten cross river travel time.

The Daughters of Norway met Tuesday evening at Scandin Hall and elected officers.
