Avon rancher killed when tractor overturns on him
Avon rancher AVON-Samuel Bignell Jr., 38, was killed Saturday afternoon on the Bignell ranch four miles west of Avon when a tractor turned over during a sidehill maneuver at 4 p.m. He was born March 18, 1931, in Missoula and attended Helmville and Deer Lodge schools. He married Luella Blood in 1952 and ran the ranch since 1954. Survivors include his wife, four daughters Judy Janet Joyce Kathy, three sons James John Joseph, his mother Ella Bignell, a brother Gerald, two sisters Betty Lou Fleming and Pauline Benson, and many relatives. He belonged to St. Michael Parish, Garrison. Funeral arrangements are pending at Beck Funeral Home.

Butte twins win lottery draw raises draft odds
In Butte a family learns their twin sons Richard and Pat Fitzpatrick aged 19, both in school, were drawn as top contenders in the military draft. Their father notes the odds and the brothers' plans to pursue education while the sister twins stay out of service for now. The event was televised as Rep. Pirnie announced the birthdates from the draft bowl. The family has 11 children and the two oldest are girls.

Anaconda official cites higher ore output delaying pollution controls

The My Lai account writer Ridenhour says 16 of 23 Capitol Hill offices did not receive his letter or deny records. He registered letters to three senators Kennedy McCarthy and Fulbright and says receipts show delivery. He mailed March 29 1969 detailing alleged Pinkville atrocities to push inquiries.
