President Roosevelt condemns mob violence and argues for national recovery. The article notes a shakeup within the administration influenced by a brain trust clash and a code adjustment shift, with General Johnson taking on responsibility after visits by Peek and F. D. R.
The White House announced that many industrial recovery codes including agricultural codes will be turned over to Hugh S. Johnson, NR administrator. President Roosevelt conferred with George N. Peek who denied plans to resign, as differences within the agriculture department with Rexford Tugwell and Jerome Frank were addressed.
The federal government invites investors to buy about 950 million dollars of one year securities at 2 1/4 percent to cover heavy December 15 maturities and costs of the recovery program. Proceeds fund 473 million of 4 percent certificates, 114 million in interest due, and leave about 100 million to bolster the treasury balance as the refunding of over half of its 1.875 billion fourth Liberty bonds is completed at a lower rate.
Montana legislators consider H. R. 13 to tax dice games, card games, and gambling devices to raise revenue for schools counties and state funds. The plan would license games with monthly fees and divide proceeds among school funds, county funds, and state general fund. A separate measure would raise residency requirements for county relief eligibility.

Finance endorses 13172.82 paid from the general fund, with total 15035.99. Other disbursements cover corral, street, storm sewer, and sprinkling funds. Milk inspector records show 47 dairies, five pasteurizing plants rated, and one dairy not in A grade. Mary Huddleston won 2 dam.
Unemployed workers will not be assigned to new jobs until the relief list is exhausted. No further CWA assignments will occur before Monday December 11. After that date, men will be assigned via the National Reemployment Service in the courthouse. Workers will receive a postal card indicating report details. Applications require the postal card notice.
Unemployed men in Butte seeking Civil Works work are told to stop besieging offices on Granite Street and Broadway. They will be notified by postal card as relief rolls are processed. Until all relief cases are filled no new starts will occur. Register with the federal unemployment bureau at the courthouse now. when relief rolls are exhausted, the courthouse bureau will fill remaining needs.
Albuquerque district attorney says poison found in the body of Carl Wickmans fourth wife Donalda Chicoine. Wickman, a druggist, pleads not guilty to first degree murder while authorities review the deaths of his three other former wives Mina Wickman Rhodea Keith Marie Burns. Only one wife, Mina, remains living in Edmond Oklahoma.
Billings mayor Fred L. Tilton died of a heart attack at his home shortly after a light lunch. He had been in frail health since last winter and was serving a second term. C. J. Williams becomes acting mayor. Tilton, 49, a Colorado Springs native, educated at Stanford and Colorado, moved to Billings in 1909 and married Grace Young a month after arriving. He leaves a widow and one son, Fred Jr., a Montana State College junior.
The Mt Haggin Land Company of Anaconda Montana won multiple awards at the International Livestock Exposition for Hamp shire sheep. First prize for group of five, second for a lamb under one year, first for flocks, first for American Hampshire Sheep association special for flocks, first for three ewe lambs, and several additional firsts seconds and specials including champion and reserve champion lamb and yearling ram distinctions.
In Los Angeles Governor James Rolph declines commenting on President Roosevelt speech condemning lawlessness. He says he will read the full speech first and then decide. He expresses high respect for Roosevelt and notes he may have nothing to add after digestion.
Samuel McKennan of Helena, head of the Union and Company, died at age 61. Funeral planned for Saturday in Helena. He chaired the Regional Agricultural Credit corporation board in Montana and served as director of the Helena Federal Reserve Bank branch and director of the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Montana.
Storms raging over the Pacific Northwest killed five people and caused damage to small shipping. Flooding closed lowlands and hampered traffic and communications across the region.
Secretary Ickes announced that 8 J Groves and Sons of Minneapolis was awarded a 109389 dollar contract to surface 48017 miles of highway between Red Lodge and Cooke City in Montana.
