Gordon Stewart Northcott appeared before Superior Judge O K Morton and entered not guilty pleas to three murder indictments. Peter Thompson dies alleged last survivor of Custer massacre
Hot Springs South Dakota December 4 AP Peter Thompson aged 175 said to be the last survivor of the Custer massacre died today at the disabled soldiers home. He enlisted in the seventh cavalry in 1875 served with company C under Captain Thomas Custer and joined Major Marcus Reno at the Little Bighorn river during the 1876 battle. Thompson was wounded on a water run for the wounded and later received the congressional medal of honor. He later ran a stock ranch in Alzado Montana before entering the home and in 1919 attended Arlington Cemetery burial of the unknown soldier as a government guest.
