Winnie Ruth Judd Escapes Arizona Hospital Again

Winnie Ruth Judd, an insane trunk murderess, escaped tonight from the Arizona State Hospital for the second time in six weeks. Governor Bob Jones announced from his sickbed that she had been gone only a short time and hospital officials hoped for quick apprehension.

Blonde Tigress Flees From State Hospital

Baby’s Life Saved With Air Tubing

An 18 month old girl, Mary Theresa Lee of 320 East Summit, smiled at the Murray hospital doctor who saved her life minutes before throat inflammation would have cut off her breath. The doctor rushed to the Lee home after a frantic call and performed a life saving operation.

Northwest Republicans urge end to 1934 trade treaty act

A regional party conference in Spokane adopted a unanimous resolution by 200 delegates from Idaho Montana Wyoming Oregon and Washington urging that the 1934 reciprocal trade treaty act not be renewed when it expires next June 12. They call for Congress to reassume import regulation and for future duties to balance domestic and foreign production costs.

Butte Hosts Automobile Dealers Convention

Butte will host about 200 Montana automobile dealers for their annual convention at the Finlen hotel today and tomorrow. Mayor Hauswirth will give the welcome, J. M. Garey will respond, and Dean Chaffin will preside. Buick's W E Hufstader is the principal speaker today. Tonight's banquet is at 7 at the Finlen. jamboree dinner and floor show follow at the Golden Fan in Meaderville.

Roosevelt couple injured in Fort Worth car crash

Mr and Mrs Elliott Roosevelt were cut and bruised in an automobile collision in Fort Worth Texas. Mrs Roosevelt had a bruised ankle and facial cuts while Roosevelt suffered facial and leg cuts and two broken teeth. Three others in the other car sustained injuries including a fractured pelvis. The Roosevelt car was demolished.

Western Montana census supervisors to train for 1940 census

District census supervisors report Wednesday for a one week training school in Missoula. Earl C. Simmons, area supervisor for this section, says crews begin field work January 2 for the business census then population housing and agriculture. The 1940 census will be broader and more detailed than prior censuses.

More than 500 Elks and guests gathered in Butte for the Fortieth memorial service of the Silver Bow lodge. W. M. Kirkpatrick delivered the memorial address stressing friendship and community service.

Butte Finnish Americans Rally for Finland Relief Campaign

Final plans for a two week drive to aid Finland's war victims were announced at a Finnish Lutheran church meeting in Butte. Donations may be left at Gunnary Drug Store. funds go to the General Relief committee for Finland in Duluth and then to the Finnish Red Cross for food medical supplies and clothing. The Air Ministry reports nine bomber aircraft of the Royal Air Force scored direct hits on German warships near Helgoland in the North Sea. Berlin says the British attack was repelled by German forces.

Man Falls Through Ice at Georgetown Lake

Manning Gustafson about 50 of 601 East Sixth Street Anaconda was rushed to St Ann hospital after he fell through ice on Georgetown lake near Echo turnout while fishing. His cries were heard as the ice broke. authorities said he was rescued after slipping into the water.

Montana Mining Men Plan to Attend Spokane Convention

Several Montana mining men will attend the 52nd annual convention of the Northwest Mining Association in Spokane this week. Headquarters will be at the Spokane hotel. Carl J. Trauerman, president of the Mining Association of Montana, and King C. Laylander of Bearmouth are on the Friday program. Trauerman speaks on Recent Mine Developments in Montana and Laylander on Construction and Operation of the Star Pointer Dredge. Trauerman will also lead a discussion Saturday afternoon.
