Body Seen In Mine Yet Identified as Possible Plug

In Shipptown Pa a television camera showed a form in the chamber where miners Dave Fellin and Henry Throne were rescued. A volunteer said it was a concrete plug and rope looking like a body. Missing miner Louis Bova, 42, was not heard from since Aug 20. Andy Drebiko risked his life to descend 302 feet to inspect the scene as drills continued above.

Court Rejects PDS Lease of Helena Hotel

A federal court order returns possession of the Placer Hotel at Helena to the Helena Hotel Co. Judge Murray voided the Sept 1 1961 lease held by Prudential Diversified Services and New Placer Corp. The ruling directs McCaffery to cease operation of the hotel and reserves rights to pursue further compromises of claims and other trustee actions as facts warrant.

FBI Identifies Butte Blast Victim in Inquest

Butte Man Shot Twice as Wife Jailed in Case

William Dyson, 27, listed in good condition at St. James Community Hospital after two bullet wounds. His wife Betty, 32, faces first degree assault charges in justice court for firing five shots at him in their 16 North Washington apartment. Dyson, a Cahoon Construction carpenter, and his wife moved from Nampa Idaho last October with their adopted daughter Becky who was placed at the Soroptimist Home. Betty Dyson waived preliminary hearing and remains in county jail on $3,500 bond.

Montana to cut telephone rates up to 40 percent

The Montana Public Service Commission ordered Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph to file a new rate schedule reducing night rate calls 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. by as much as 40 percent, saving Montana users about 310000 annually and 526000 calls with three minute station to station plans under 75 cents.

Kerruish Dies Suddenly at 56 in Butte Home

William H. Kerruish 56 died Friday from a heart attack at his Locust Street home. Coroner says he was a known heart patient under treatment. He was a mining engineer and Steward Mine shift boss. Survived by wife Clarice daughter Peggy and sister Mrs B P Daugherty. Services pending Richards Funeral.

Milwaukee Again Asks to Cut Passenger Trains

The Milwaukee Road reinstated plans to drop the Aberdeen South Dakota to Deer Lodge Montana segment of passenger trains Nos. 15 and 16 due to heavy losses. Oct. 1 would be the curtailment date, while Minneapolis to Aberdeen service continues. Opponents argued the 1961 order and ICC hearings, with a 1963 Deer Lodge loss exceeding $1.4 million.

Kennedy to Visit Billings and Great Falls Montana

President Kennedy will tour the Northwest focusing on natural resources with stops in Billings and Great Falls Montana. Senator Mike Mansfield said details will come from Hyannis Port and noted the trip follows his Montana Labor Day stay and a planned auto tour of several towns.
