Michel Jette former Butte man died in Iberville Quebec two years ago and his will dated February 25 1896 filed yesterday for probate in the local district court. The document written in French and English is the oldest on record in Silver Bow County filings. It bequeaths more than 8000 to his wife Flavie Jette and was crafted by W C Holland a former Butte attorney at the McDermott hotel.
The Southern Montana Poultry Association with about 50 Butte owners will send a 40-bird exhibit to the Inland Empire fair in Spokane on September 8. Boosted by Montana state fair success including sweepstakes and top prizes, the group will also hold its annual picnic September 14 at the Columbia Gardens.
Eight year old Margherine Appel who vanished while playing with neighbors in South Bend was found dead in a vacant lot behind her home. Police say she likely was kidnapped and died about two hours earlier from her injuries. Authorities tied the case to a recent kidnapping incident in the area.
