The State Department warns 450 American bodies and US missions against the Stockholm peace petition, calling it a trap and a Communist program to cover Soviet aggression. The analysis seeks wide circulation to expose the petition’s true purpose.
Korean Communists crossed the Naktong near Taegu with 600 to 800 troops at dawn and threats to the Taegu area grew. United States Air Force planes abandoned Pohang airfield as units of the US 25th Infantry Division rushed to shore up the river line amid new Red concentrations on the northern front.
Mostly fair and warmer weather expected in Butte with Sunday highs around 79 and morning lows near 41. Montana west of the divide will see scattered thunderstorms Sunday with highs 75 to 85, east of the divide occasional storms and slightly cooler to near 70 to 80.

Laurel Aug 12 Gary Allan Stahley two-year-old son of John J. and Mrs Stahley drowned in the municipal swimming pool. Firemen failed to revive him after he wandered from a group of children nearby and fell in. His sister and grandparents survive.
The Department of Defense lists Pvt. Richard L. Marshall of Viola Idaho as missing in action in Korea and Pvt. Walter S. Ingalls of Roy Montana as wounded in the same area.
