Sunday Work Fatality Near High Point and Thomasville
Peter Short died and Sidney Allen was hospitalized in High Point after a Sunday morning automobile crash on the Thomasville Road five miles from High Point and two miles from Thomasville. The overturned car lay atop them at a steep embankment as a passerby found them around 5 am and gasoline soaked their clothing. Short was a Greensboro News pressman and Allen was said to be connected with a Thomasville garage.

Mill Accident Claims Life at Helms Mill
A man named Alexander Helms died after his head was crushed between a lever and frame while filling a bucket at his cane mill nine miles above Monroe. The tragedy occurred Saturday around eleven in the morning. Elijah Little witnessed the incident. Helms, nearly 62, left a widow and nine children. The funeral was held Sunday at Lucy Helms burying ground.
