Avant Family Reunion Marks Simple Joys and Heritage
Mrs Bell Avant hosted a rural community reunion with spinning demonstrations, a choir led by Willie Osborne, a large dinner of country chicken and sides, and old time music by the Mullis family. Hon R W Lemmond and J C Laney spoke, with dozens of relatives and neighbors attending including Mr. and Mrs Baxter Starnes and Mrs. Minor Threatt. The event honored 68 year old Mrs Arant, a major local landowner and widow of John Arant, and celebrated family ties across Lancaster Monroe Buford Altan communities.
