Roosevelt Shot at Milwaukee Transit Auditorium
Colonel Theodore Roosevelt was shot at five o’clock yesterday evening in Milwaukee as he began a speech. A bullet lodged in his flesh but he continued speaking after a brief examination, insisting he would deliver the speech or die. The would-be shooter was restrained by Roosevelt’s secretary Albert H. Martin and Capt. O. A. Girard, and was taken to the police. Roosevelt’s condition is not believed to be serious, with the manuscript he carried credited for slowing the bullet.
