Death of Mrs Fletcher and family note in Monroe

Mrs Ada Fletcher died suddenly on Sunday October 6 leaving husband B J Fletcher and three children, one infant. She was 23, interred at Grace Chapel with services by Dr. Weaver. Survived by husband, parents Mr and Mrs A J Fowler Jr, and siblings. Also reported: three deserters from the navy, held for court in Stouts after arrest by Constable W H Starnes. rewards issued for navy deserters.

Installation Service at First Presbyterian Church

A public installation service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 7 20 pm. Rev Henry EB Gurney will be installed as pastor with Rev R H Rolston of Charlotte presiding and preaching. Rev Geo H Atkinson of Albemarle and Rev A J Crane of Marshville will conduct charges. The choir will perform music and all are invited.

In Trinity church on Sunday evening October 6 a large gathering witnessed the marriage of Miss Connie Osborne to Mr. Hosea Preslar. Farewell Service for Rev Sneed Ogburn Sail to Japan Mission

A farewell service was held for Rev Sneed Ogburn son of Mr N B Ogburn who left yesterday for San Francisco to sail on the 15th for Japan as a missionary under the Southern Methodist church. Ogburn is supported by Central Methodist church Monroe. This marks the third Monroe youth to go to the mission field in recent years. The other two are Rev Steve Stewart and Rev George T Stewart. Monrovia will be involved in Red Cross Seals sales to fund tuberculosis work.

Auto Turned Over Injuries Reported in Field

A Saturday incident near Matihews saw Dr. R. L. Payne and Horace Neal in a slow trot auto accident. The vehicle rolled over into a ditch with the car on top. both men escaped serious harm. Dr. Payne sustained internal injuries to his machine in the crash.
