A Marshville editorial calls for moral action to curb liquor access for youths. The piece blames local citizens’ neglect and urges immediate, principled resistance to the drink trade to protect future generations.
Mr 1 M Nash suffered paralysis last week while in Marshville and remains in precarious condition. Rev Mr Halgier will preach at Union Grove next Sunday at 2 30 PM. W F Cox and wife thank friends for support during illness and note help with supplies and repairs to their crep. W C Curran plans an iron clad store room south of Daviess Company’s livery stable. G O Tucker to run grocery and confectionery in that building. Drug stores in Marshville may open on Sunday only to serve sick patients. doors to close if not needed. Rev T J Huggins will preach at Smyrna 11 AM and Snyder school house 3 30 PM. A Union Cooperative Association rep will tour Marshville next Thursday week for egg route prep. Mrs Thetus Arnet died Friday at her son James Arnet’s home in New Salem township at about 80 years. She is survived by son James and daughters Laura and Ellen. Remains laid to rest Saturday afternoon at Hamilton’s Cross Roads church cemetery.

No railroad will carry a passenger unless he pays for the full fare upfront. Newspapers are rapidly adopting the same plan, charging for the period of travel in advance. If a trip lasts three months the passenger pays three months, if a year the passenger pays for a year. No fares are collected at journey's end.
A long haired middle aged man, barely dressed, was captured near Pageland after a woods and farm chase. Identified as James English, a Ker shaw County native with likely mental illness, he was taken to the asylum. Neighbor William Stokes of Pageland reported similar concerns.

Hugh Greenfield and Lillian Story were jailed after last Wednesday night arrest. They face charges of attempted criminal operation connected to the death of a Hellman girl aged about 19, who died after giving birth to a child. the infant also died following birth. Greenfield alleged to be the father.
Better Outlook to the South reports rain arriving at last in Pageland with enough rainfall to revive earth. Though not universal, many crops show improvement as delayed sprouts push through soil while sunshine returns to aid growth.
A Waxhaw Enterprise correspondent recalls making jelly from molly pops after a Hot Springs visitor praised their sweetness. From two gallons, six glasses of yellow jelly were produced, tested against Editor Nisbet, who dismissed the plant as weed like ragweed. The writer plans to try new flavors and methods next season.
In Wayne County a valued dog died suddenly near Mount Olive. The owner had the body examined by a veterinarian who found a garter snake wrapped around the liver, reportedly having eaten the liver. Several reputable locals vouched for the tale.
William Broom of Mount Holly died of dropsy at age 59 after living in Monroe earlier. He leaves a wife and six children Jim Frank Hugh Lee and two daughters-in-law, plus one brother and several sisters and sisters-in-law. Body brought to Monroe for burial with services at M E Church led by Reverends Sny der and Kennington, burial at Monroe Cemetery. pallbearers named. Family mourns the loss.
