Destructive Floods Ravage Western North Carolina

Severe floods across North Carolina and nearby states caused at least 13 deaths and widespread destruction. Bridges collapsed, mills flooded, and hundreds were left homeless as the Catawba and Yadkin rivers surged, crippling rail traffic and powering plants. Thousands of cotton bales and mill losses reported along the Swannanoa Broad and French Broad basins. Laney Re-Elected Sanitary Inspector Thirty More Days
