Two suspects held on dangerous and suspicious charges in the Nick W. grocan fatal robbery at Gaston and streets store near Watters. They admitted occupant status of a truck seen across the street and sped off as the bandit fled. Hearing set for Tuesday in recorder’s court.
In Hampton Virginia a preliminary hearing for Professor Elisha Kent Kane on his wife’s drowning was halted when Mrs W C Graham mother of Mrs Kane fainted on the stand. She was carried away after sobbing and saying her daughter could not live without her. Coroner Vanderslice testified letters from another woman influenced his finding from accidental drowning to murder. The coroner noted Kane’s wife and domestic difficulties. the body was to be transported to Tennessee.
A Washington interstate commerce panel closed two months of hearings on a proposed 15 percent rate increase and has the application under advisement. A decision is expected in three to four weeks as hearings opened amid debate over wage changes, blocked by Commissioner Meyer, and an attorney opposing the increase addressed H. A. president of the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul system.
Thomas was fined fifty dollars and costs or a day on the reck, with bond set at two hundred dollars after a decision by the recorder. He drove an automobile, allegedly causing injuries to Mrs. W. H. Armstrong of the state.
A woman was arrested on a manslaughter charge and released on bond after a incident left another person injured and moved to a hospital. Police docketed the case Wednesday morning at headquarters.

In Memphis Tennessee Chancellor M C Ketchum ordered a general continuance of the divorce suit between Mrs Ellen M Noe and the Very Rev I H Noe dean of St Marys Episcopal cathedral after Walter Armstrong for Dean Noe said a reconciliation had been effected and they hoped to amicably close the case with withdrawal of the suit.
Luckenbach Gulf Steamship Co announces regular 11 day sailings between Mobile and the Pacific coast to begin October 6. The F J Luckenbach will inaugurate the schedule replacing the former 14 day cadence, and the Julia Luckenbach will be placed back in service to start the new pattern.
A two day joint committee hearing opened to study operation plans for the Muscle Shoals hydro electric and nitrate plant project and the electric furnace fertilizer process. The session was closed to reporters, with Alabama members chaired by Judge Hobbs and including McFarland and Smith.
Jefferson county officers hunted three hitch hikers after men fired on W T Genings of Johnson City Tennessee wounding one, shattering the windshield, and forcing a car full of four to crash into a ditch six miles from Wadley between Wadley and Louisville. Genings proceeded to Wadley to report.
