Jmmie Stovall, an employee at the Mo county garage, was critically burned when a can of gasoline ignited as he prepared to light a forge. He rushed to a hydrant and doused himself, others nearby unaware until his cries. He was taken to the infirmary in critical condition with upper body burns.
Federal agents seized two stills late Friday in Wragg Swamp near Gov ernment Street Road, bringing to three the number found in the area in three days. An outfit was found south of the road on Thursday, about eight miles from Mobile. Agents poured out 41 barrels of whiskey in the raids and were aided by deputies Rousseau Hudson and Hobson Hargett.
Property owners in the 27th mutual street paving program will receive notices. About 1,005 individuals may protest at city hall on Tuesday October. The project costs around $485,000 and targets wooden block pavement A reportedly troublesome in heavy rains.

Whitney Williams, operator of a Royal Street restaurant, is named in the police report. no arrests were listed. The victim was released after treatment.
The automobile of T. M. Walker of 259 Regina Avenue stolen from Murphy High School was recovered Friday night in a clump of trees near the Old Government and Florida streets intersection. Patrolmen Clark and Smith located the car.
Mobile Elks hold their annual frolic at Bienville Square to aid the lodge charity fund. The event starts at 8 o clock with promised entertainment and a large crowd expected. John A. Lamey chairs the affair with secretary Joseph A Marques Jr and treasurer Clarence V Evans.
Ephram Ellis, a Black man, was fined 50 in court costs or 50 days in jail after being found with a single-barrel sawed-off shotgun. He claimed he carried the gun for protection en route to Mobile through swamp land, but Judge D H Edington rejected the excuse and upheld the fine.
Mrs. Carl Klinge of the mobile recreation department presented a stage program of singing dancing and music at the Saenger theater. The matinee drew more than 1800 children and adults whose applause whistling and hollering followed acts by Diana Berry Lacile McHugh Edna Enrich Myrtle Stock Grover Johnston and Bessie Gilbe.
Sydney Sayre, a 37 year old Chicago war veteran and inventor, confessed to killing his father Rackwell Sayre 83, after claiming the elder pursued a nurse. Police found the body with gunshot wounds as Sayre admitted planning to kill the nurse and ending his father’s life. Evidence notes a wealthy family and three other sons.
Street sale Saturday benefits disabled World War I veterans under Disabled Veterans of the World War II unit. Women and girls collect proceeds for soldiers returning crippled or otherwise disabled. Team captains include Mrs J W Butterly, Mrs J Tremble, Mrs Cogburn, Mrs E F Kossow, Mrs Claude Maura, Mrs Herndon Fletcher, Mrs Grace Durant, Mrs F I Spaulding, Miss Jean Burges, and Miss Mercer Pitroff.
A Brooklyn telephone operator heard a scream and a terrorized plea over a connected call. Police traced the line to Carl Schjeviand a 29 year old millwright in a Brooklyn office where signs of a violent struggle and blood were found. No trace of Schjeviand remained at the office or his home.
Two switching tracks have been laid along the north side of Pier C to serve the transit shed now being erected. Foundation work is done and steel framing has begun, with several weeks more needed to finish the project.
The 40 mile gale on Lake Michigan swept the area, killing at least five crewmen from the barge Aivor and sinking the schooner Our Son off Ludington. Nine others survived from the Aivor, with another motor carrier North Shore missing and Coast Guard crews reaching safety at Sheboygan.

Four killed when a car driven by Mrs. T. C. Raley swerved to avoid a truck and plunged from a Sasquoula bridge into the Pascagoula river. The victims include three Raley girls aged 7, 4, and 8 and their nurse Maude Christini 16. Mrs. Raley and Mr. Raley survived. bodies en route to St. Louis for interment.
CHICKASHA Oklahoma September 27 TM Ed E Johns former state senator and liquidating agent for failed state banks shot and killed his nephew Jack Comer 19 and then killed himself at the family home. He was angered by the youth leaving a Mississippi military academy. Comer had just returned from Gulfport Mississippi after the uncle sent money for the trip.
Two Henry county residents died in a storm when lightning struck a switch Haynes 39 of Headland and Emma Bryant 26 of Ebebville stood in her father's home watching the display. Alabama Power first aid squads aided Haynes but Bryant’s death was not preventable. Bryant’s funeral at Hardin church scheduled this afternoon. Haynes’ funeral arrangements not yet set. Surviving include the widow and five children.
Debris from a missing plane carrying pilot Willard Parker and passenger William J. McNulty was found along the lake shore three miles west of Conneaut Ohio. No bodies located. They departed Cleveland Municipal Airport heading for Buffalo and Mifflinburg Pa with fuel for about five hours. The wreckage shows engine failure.
