Mobile police charged Sahad Posed as a pawn shop representative to sell bicycles stolen over six months. Detectives Holmes Green and Bauer recovered $1,000 worth of bikes in Mobile and nearby towns. Sahad alias Jim Johnson, 155 Monroe Street, is in custody on a general charge.
Paul Hughes and W F Tew of Prichard received 90 days hard labor each in recorder's court for petit larceny tied to an automobile storage battery theft. They had earlier faced hard labor in connection with thefts of a tire and motometer. J O Smith and Dave Abell involved in separate incidents were discharged or dismissed on other charges.

The census bureau reports August active cotton spindle hours totaled 8,129,928,914 up from July’s 7,744,243,369. Spindles in place on August 31 numbered 34,706,470 with 30,236,880 active at some point in the month, and the average spindles operated was 33,908,612 at 97.7 percent capacity on a single shift.
John C. Brock a 78 year old Clarke county farmer was killed by a runaway team on his Quitman area farm. He is survived by three sons and three daughters, including Dr. G. D. Brock Meridian and John R Brock Quitman, with services at Mount Pisgah cemetery this afternoon conducted by Reverend Cliff Johnson.
In Vancouver Washington on September 20 Deputy Sheriff Cliff Kemp and Deputy Auditor C A Calander described how women and children in Dole mountain valley were drenched in creeks and covered with water soaked gunny sacks to survive a forest fire that destroyed a dozen homes. Fire raged on Bell mountain with all but one settler escaping. Suppies were rushed by railroad speeders as the blaze burned across the northwest, scorching 300000 acres and causing extensive damage.
