Autos Flee From Bullets As Negro Goes on Rampage
Sam Brown a negro alleged to have terrorized rooms on St Stephens road from Ann to Catherine street early Sunday morning with oaths and by discharging a pistol caused autoists on the John Craft highway to flee. He was fined 120 dollars or 110 days hard labor in the recorder's court. Police charged Brown with carrying a pistol concealed for 100 dollars or 90 days a drunk 15 dollars or 15 days and 6 dollars or 5 days for discharging a pistol. Several negroes with Brown who helped to make the night hideous for residents and motorists were assessed 15 dollars or 51 days. The officer offered empty shells as evidence. Sunday morning saw many arrests for disorder, with 69 cases on the docket.
