Frank Lescia an Austrian shipyard worker died from back and abdomen wounds after a Monday night shooting in Pascagoula Mississippi. Sheriff Parker questions Lescia’s dying statement claiming a robbery by a Black man, noting the case remains unsolved and under investigation.
The Mobile Bureau of the Federal Department of Labor says its women division completed its first month with twenty one women placed across eleven labor branches. Openings exist in dry goods and tea stores for elevator girls as cannery and farm work pick up with the October potato season.
The Moshico Foremen's Association of Mobile Shipbuilding Company held its regular semi monthly meeting at the Cawthon Hotel. Harry T. Hartwell and Sheriff-elect William Holcombe spoke. Frank Lassy an Austrian foreman at International Shipbuilding Company Pascagoula was found wounded Monday night and died Thursday at 3 AM. He told police a Negro accosted him on Jackson Avenue, shot him, and stole $50. Burial planned in Pascagoula.
In Jackson City records King M R of the Albright drug store faced Recorder’s Court on charges of permitting a punch board game. Amos A, arrested with King, had the same action continued from Thursday to Saturday as police alleged King allowed Towle to play the game at the board.
John H. Lee was docketed at the police station on Thursday on the charge of conducting business without a license. License Officer El. B. foe Lee bee.

In Comiskey Park on September 6 1918 the Boston Red Sox defeated the Chicago Nationals 1 to 0 behind strong left handed pitching by Vaughn and Ruth. Chicago failed to push across more than two outs with runners in scoring position.

In France Sept 5 British forces push along the Lys sector and north of the Bapaume Cambrai road while German shells hit Peronne and Mont Saint Quentin during the night. In Russia the British consulate at Moscow was attacked, according to Central News.
