An inquiry into the August 27 Paulsboro oil tanker blaze heard Captain John T. Pearson allegedly threaten crew with a pistol to keep them aboard as a 13-man boat fled. A second boat guarded by an ax was also described, with distress signals sent before a Mobile tow and newsroom access denied.
The city commission delayed arrests for delinquent street tax until collectors finish listing nonpayers. J. Rogers said payments will be accepted for the next few days and warned, pay now or be worried, as many residents paid on Wednesday and extra staff handled Tuesday’s final day.
Articles of incorporation for the Citronelle Bee company were filed in probate court on Wednesday. The firm will raise homey bees on a large scale with capital stock fixed at 3,000 dollars. Officers include L. G. Jernin, S. M. Merrill as vice general manager, and H. S. Jernigan as secretary and treasurer.
The Independent Holy Church of God filed incorporation papers in court on Wednesday. Named individuals include E. L. Smith Annie Turner and Mary Turner.

Chicago Sept. 4 Jockey Thomas Burns and trainer Daniels were questioned today in connection with an investigation of a race at Hawthorne track where the horse Click ran with its nostrils stuffed with sponge. The men have been under arrest since Monday and deny knowledge of the sponge tampering. Daniels trained the horse and Burns rode him.

Tom Lang, a Black man, was discharged by Recorder Touart on Wednesday morning after the recoven his car and a motor traffic officer. The officer sustained slight leg injuries.

Captain A Tellier, Nep tune Association representative, reported that the Sudamieri cano under the Ni flag and the Sudcubano, both Norwegian, won first and second, while the United States Line entry placed third.
Chicago editor Robert B. Burns, former editor of Greater Chicago, is serving a five to seven year Georgia sentence for four dollars stolen in 1922. He reports brutal conditions on the chain gang, including iron links and a shattered anklet after a prior escape. Burns later reached Chicago, working at the stockyards and in real estate promotion, reportedly helped by Mrs. Emily de Pino Burns who he says married him.
Rastus Pierce of Wilmer was fined 51 dollars and 30 days hard labor by Acting Judge Touart in the inferior criminal court for assault and battery. Evidence showed Pierce struck Fred Miller with an iron bar on the head three times after an argument on Dog river in Writaer.
Mussolini reached Forli to meet his newborn daughter Anna Maria the fifth child in the Mussolini family. He stayed at his desk until news arrived then hurried home to greet the infant.
Five men questioned in Athens Alabama over the death of Harry Hunter a 30 year old Ardmore merchant. Hunter was found stabbed near a store with signs of robbery but motive unclear. Evidence including a bloody cigarette fingerprints and a pencil were found at the scene. Coroner's jury ruled Hunter died from unidentified assailants.
Camden Tennessee reports a man named Fry in serious condition after a cavern collapse. Fry and five others were trapped by slippery muck and sand, with rescue crews and 3,000 onlookers assisting to reach him, finally extricating him to safety.
Harper George A Glass and E Tanner were fined or 10 days on slot machine charges. Walter Kimbrough was held under 500 bond to circuit court for manufacturing liquor and possession of a still. Sarah Bowman Joe Thomas Joeneet Wee Fordon Crows ley Mamie Washington Willie ley and Harl E New each fined 50 dollars and costs of 20 days for violation of the prohibitions law. Bowman woman given four months additional for attempted bribery of officers.
Jackie on South Dearborn street and R. Fuller were freed of disorderly conduct in Te corder's court Wednesday. They were arrested on Maude Haven, a waitress, who says they beat her after she took an automobile ride with them.
Bland Bland Jr aged 17 died from injuries after a plane crash near Kingston North Carolina. Pilot Durald Wilson was injured but expected to recover. Authorities reported the crash occurred as the aircraft encountered trouble during an unspecified phase of flight.
