Demurrers Studied In Suit Against Former Sheriff
Judge Claude A Grayson took under submission demurrers in the civil action brought by Minnie Whitehurst mother of Thelma Wooten against former sheriff Pat Byrne. The suit seeks 20000 dollars for alleged wrongful death after Thelma Wooten was killed last August by Thomas H Sullivan and C C Lane special deputies.

Burglars Target W T Grant Store and Local Homes
Burglary attempts reported at the W T Grant store on Conception street with a sprung door and loose hinges. Two weeks earlier burglars tried to force the store safe containing several thousand dollars. The Indian Springs home of James McCrary was robbed twice, with $65 cash, groceries and clothing stolen. Mrs J C Wilkins home at Belle Fontaine suffered a wholesale burglary including bedding lamps phonograph and three boats. Mary Williams on State street reported three home entry attempts this week with the last Friday night.

Verdict returned in manslaughter case at New Roads
