Police report exhaustive investigations into a weekend robbery tied to a Whistler shipyard worker. J T Hicks and Willie Agrudo were arrested on robbery charges after McLaughlin identified two men. Hearings delayed to Friday per Chief Burch.
Turner and his co pilot Lieutenant Roscoe Turner launched from New York at 4 03 40 PM EST for a one stop flight to Los Angeles aiming to beat the Atlantic to Pacific speed record. He anticipated a Wichita stop while acknowledging a previous failed attempt to beat Lindbergh on a west to east record in the same craft.

A private meeting of the Jeffersonian Club was held Monday night at its St Michael Street headquarters with 12 attendees led by president Garet Van Antwerp and secretary Harry Libbey. Newsmen were excluded and told the session would be executive. it began at 8 and lasted under an hour with several members leaving by 8:45.

In Hammond Louisiana a 30 year old dentist with a wealthy client base fled his town after a mob tarred and feathered him and dumped him in a street near a late night restaurant. Officials would not reveal the identity of a married woman alleged in the accusation. The dentist was lured to a wooded spot in Livingston parish by an acquaintance and ambushed at the Tangipahoa Livingston parish line.
In Anniston on May 27 officers sought a coroner’s inquiry to resolve conflicting accounts by Mrs. W. C. Gunn of Sylacauga about the shooting death of her husband two miles from Oxford. She and her daughter were en route to a Jacksonville commencement when the tragedy occurred. Initial stories claimed a robbery by three men and a fatal shot by Mr. Gunn. later she said the men took the pistol and her purse as Gunn was killed. Police found a pistol with an exploded cartridge and a bullet in the car’s upholstery, near the creek bridge.

Red Cross headquarters said two representatives of the national chapter would arrive in Natchitoches parish Louisiana late today to survey the situation.
