Supreme Court rules bootleg buyers rarely prosecute able
The U S Supreme Court held that buyers of bootleg liquor cannot be prosecuted under ordinary circumstances in the Farrar case of Boston. The Norris case involving a New York banker who bought liquor was sustained on a guilty plea and the court avoided ruling on buyer conspiracy. The ruling may spur new legislation to make buyers guilty. Senator Sheppard will press for action.

Suspect in grand larceny admitted after chase and car theft

Eli Hagan, a black man, was detained Sunday night by Chief Deputy Sheriff Dudley McFayden six miles past Cedar Point road on a charge of abusive language. Roy Kruse, son of Special Agent Ike Kruse from the Southern railway, accused Hagan of forcing their car into a ditch when he drove from a side road into Cedar Point road. Kruse said Hagan and other men abused him and his family after they remonstrated about the reckless driving. Hagan posted bail Monday evening for a superior court appearance.
