George P. Carney, 71, of 317 North Conception Street, died last night at a local infirmary after an anvil injury at Alabama Drydock and Shipbuilding. Blood poisoning followed the Friday injury and amputation was performed before his death. He was a prominent Mobile blacksmith and boilermaker, survived by his widow Mary A. Carney and five daughters, including Mrs. R. L. Heiter and Mrs. L. Kilcullen. Funeral services set for 8:30 a.m. at the family home and 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church.
