President Wilson addresses Congress proposing repeal of war time prohibition on beers and light wines. He calls for return of railroads to private owners and privatization of telephone and telegraph lines, tax revision abolishing war time levies, labor rights, woman suffrage, stricter tariffs, expanded shipping, and land for veterans.
Congressman Huddleston argues Bolsheviki in America differ from Rus leaders as wealth favors the few. He claims American Bolsheviki oppose autocracy but pressure for better wages and taxes should rest on all, rich and poor alike. He warns labor movements are mischaracterized as Bolshevik by critics while urging unity to defend democratic control of resources. The convention’s Tuesday session closes with reports and credentials showing 210 delegates.
