Late Thursday a fire swept a store building owned by George Wade and a dwelling occupied by Clarence C Patton in Mobile. Firefighters from Truck No 7 led by Captain Dewey Bolling battled flames and saved a nearby school while the structures burned. Damage estimates were not available by Thursday afternoon.

General LeRoy Eltinge Dies at 59 in Omaha Hospital
Brig. Gen. LeRoy Eltinge 59 commander of the 14th infantry bridge and the 89th division regular army reserves died in a Omaha hospital after an illness that began Saturday. He served as deputy chief of staff in France in World War I and received the Distinguished Service Medal along with awards from France England Italy and Belgium. Surviving are his widow and one daughter.
