The Alabama Federation of Labor delegates meet in annue convention to discuss the feud like tensions in Elizabethton Tennessee. Speakers denounce factory conditions and urge elimination of prison labor and reform in wage practices. Notable participants include W D Mahon of Detroit and Nashville labor leaders from the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
In Baton Rouge on May 14 Governor Huey P. Long faced impeachment in the state senate chamber. Prosecution and defense desks were installed, a raised witness chair prepared, and acoustics tested as票s were distributed by ticket only. A large crowd awaited admission amid rumors and quiet officials.
One man was under arrest this morning and others are expected to be taken into custody in connection with narcotic peddling activities in Mobile. C. L. Sanges was served with a warrant on a conspiracy to violate narcotic laws. Drug sales are claimed and a court hearing is to be fixed later today.
The Crystal Ball presented by the A B S will be repeated at 8 o clock tonight in the Bishop Toolen High School auditorium. Ushers listed include Edna Pickhard Martha McKenzie Irma Hardy Gertrude Hutchinson Dorothy Sollie Martha Hyndman and Josie Crum.
Plans for erecting a new church building are under review by a Methodist group. The project seeks about 60,000 dollars for a structure described as a parish house and church facility.

The annual May festival at St Catherine of Siena church Crichton will be held tomorrow. An industrial school band will perform from 7 to 8 o clock and refreshments will be served by the church group.
Recorder D H Edington warned violators that moving only in the direction shown by green lights will bring heavy fines. Stanley Varlas faced court for running a red light at Dauphin and Jackson. he claimed the amber light prevailed. He was fined five dollars as the judge stated amber signals do not authorize movement.
In Chicago on May 14 a seasoned thief gained entry to the home of Andrew W. Andersen, secretary of the Cudahy Packing Company, by a second floor window. He took 3600 dollars worth of jewels, used a bathrobe as a prop, and left after casually greeting Andersen and his daughter Elizabeth.
The suit against W. N. Key general counsel for the Louisville and Nashville railroad for refusing to pay the street tax was postponed again. Both sides prepare briefs for the next trial date Friday.
Meteorologist Albert Ashhenberger warns the Tombigbee River near Demopolis will rise slowly into this afternoon or tonight as the crest arrives. He adds the Black Warrior River should fall, and the Alabama River at Montgomery and Selma also decline.
New York May 14 Supreme Court Justice Gemesa issued a temporary restraining order stopping the Russian Trades Employers Association from proceeding with a planned 5 p.m. tomorrow lockdown affecting about 75 000 workers.
The Building Trade Employers' Association voted for a lockout starting tomorrow after the electrical union reversed its stance and agreed to supply workers to previously blacklisted contractors. The move follows a failure by the building trades council to halt sympathetic strikes tied to a larger electrical union dispute.
A faculty member and a Des Moines University trustee traveled to Buffalo New York to present the students and faculty side of a dissension at the Baptist Bible Union convention. Also aboard were Edith M Redman secretary of the university board and Bible Union and four other students returning home under police protection after last nights demonstration.
Sheriff J S Braswell of Rockingham North Carolina arrived in the city this morning to obtain custody of D Russell Shaw arrested here Saturday on a charge of wife desertion preferred in the North Carolina city. They will leave for Rockingham this afternoon Shaw having waived extradition.

The Graf Zeppelin departure to the United States was postponed after France withheld overflight permission. Paris officials called reports of an earlier grant a canard and said no clearance had been issued.
Potato shipments in the United States through midnight May 13 show 101 cars of new stock across California Florida Georgia South Carolina Texas and 56 cars to South Carolina. Old stock mostly from northern states totals 427 cars. Grand total for the day 428 shipments.

City officials hold a bid opening for 175000 in bonds to finance the installation of a new white way system in Mobile. Commissioner Schwars will attend alone, with plans to reconvene only if a quorum is present. Mayor Bates has departed for Cleveland and Commissioner Hartwell is away on a trip.
The Alabama commission reports 102 vessels totaling 213,941 tons in March and the same number in April with slightly lower tonnage. April details show 44 foreign steamships worth 102,435 tons, 3 coastwise steamships 99,086 tons, 3 schooners 664 tons, and 17 barges totaling 11,756 tons.
