Police hold two men for further investigation in the Piggly Wiggly store robbery that netted 1950 dollars. Clerk Lucius Oliphant could not positively identify any suspect when shown during a police grilling.
Robert Roux, 24, a soldier at Fort Morgan, fled without furlough to be with his wife and newborn in New Orleans. He was arrested there and handed to New Orleans authorities, with military officials to decide if his actions meet desertion criteria. The War Department will review the case and rule on whether his absence constitutes desertion.
Lieut W D Coney, injured coast to coast aviator, is very low and may not live through the day at the Natches sanatorium. Physicians fear his death is imminent as he is conscious only at intervals and suffering pain. If he dies, his body will be taken to Jacksonville Florida by his mother at his bedside. His brother aunt and Major N E Craggett of the 4th aviation corps are with him.
Reports say a navy balloon vanished over the Gulf of Mexico after cries heard from a swamp near Apalachicola. Navy units from Pensacola and Panacea join seaplanes to locate five missing airmen. authorities ask towns along west Florida to relay any sightings by telegraph or telephone. Four men are confirmed dead.
Miss Margaret Lynes telegraphs from Wheeling to Boston denying she lured Ensign Joseph J. Lyman toward ruin. She says she was engaged to him after a ten week courtship, that Lyman promised a divorce from his wife, and that she never received large sums of money.
Federal Prohibition Commissioner Kramer notes about 100 breweries seek permits to brew medicinal beer under Palmer ruling. He warns illegal flows to underground markets could rise if permits are restricted. Many physicians may avoid permits and drug stores could exploit the demand, while authorities prepare application blanks and await Harding’s appointment.
Bids for steel derricks to be erected at Demopolis and the Port of Birmingham along the Warrior river line will be opened April 19. Each 100-foot boom 115-foot mast unit will handle coal gravel and ore with steam operation at Demopolis and electric operation at Birmingham.

In New York on March 30, lawyers for Frank Jay Gould moved in state supreme court to dismiss Edith Kelly Goulds divorce suit claiming his Paris divorce last year made him not her husband. Mrs Gould counters that the Paris decree is void in this state and that the complaint cites alleged intimate conduct by several women.

The indictment alleges a fire at Aaron Robinson's stores and dwelling at 256 Manassas Street on January 1. A 100 jurors special venire was drawn and 12 jurors seated for the case. The trial was expected to go to the jury that afternoon.
Fleming, Ky March 30 Mrs Palmyra Mullins widow of Beefhide Creek near here was jailed at Whitesburg charged with murder in a case alleging she gave poison to her three children. The poison, said to have been obtained from a drug store, was mixed into food to poison a dog first. Mabel 13 died and two younger children are reported in serious condition.
London officials report Prime Minister Lloyd George and War Secretary Worthington Adams with Field Marshal Wilson held a conference. The dispatch suggests the meeting centered on extending military penalties on Germany for failing to pay 12 billion marks in reparations before May 1.

A military casualty notice in London retracted a claim that Sir Wilfred Peek was killed in Ireland last week. It was revealed the fallen officer was Captain R. J. Peek. Sir Wilfred attended the funeral as a relative and had married a St. Louis girl in 1914.
