Eugene Kauffman a 19 year old from Chicago admitted stealing a plastering contractor’s automobile on Government street near Joachim in Mobile. He was held to the April grand jury under 750 dollars bond on grand larceny charges and jailed after failing to post bail. Frank M. Ladd Jr. identified the suspect and stopped him as the car was being returned to its parking place.
