Laurel Woman Dies After Illness at Home
Mrs S E McGill aged 67 died at the family residence in Laurel following a three week illness. She is survived by four sons Hugh Thomas John McGill of Rustin William A McGill of Birmingham and three daughters Mrs Ann Lowery Mrs Viola Williams Hustin and Mrs Mary Bryan of Texas. Funeral services were held at Austin church with Rev P G Harper officiating and interment in the churchyard cemetery.

Cobb Arrested in Laurel for Possession of Intoxicating Liquor
J J Cobb of West Laurel was arrested at his Thirteenth avenue home by Sheriff officials for possession of intoxicating liquor. Officers said Cobb tried to pour liquor from a large mouth jug into the kitchen sink when seized. He also faced a suspended 30 day sentence awaiting further action.
Funeral services held for late Gulfport chief

Jacksons and associate jailed in Meridian bank embezzlement case
In Meridian Mississippi a mob il e father and son faced Judge Allen Cox for embezzling seventy two dollars from The First National Bank at Laurel in August. John H Jackson received five years for embezzlement plus two for conspiracy. H Edward Jackson, captured in California after a nationwide hunt, drew four and a half years with a concurrent sentence of six years. The men and an associate, Schaefer, pled guilty and were sentenced in federal court with terms to be served at Atlanta.

Dauntless to Visit Mobile For Five Day Stay
British warship H. M. S. Dauntless will arrive Saturday around 11 to dock at the Louisville and Nashville wharf below Government street for a five day visit. Thomas M. Ross the British consul and a Chamber of Commerce committee plan entertainment for about 470 officers and seamen. The ship will open its visit with official calls by the captain on the mayor and city officials as part of a business oriented port call not seen here since 1928 but the voyage will emphasize cordial relations and port hospitality.

Woman Killed Under Wheels of M and C Train
A 42-year-old deaf Citronelle resident, Mrs. Collier, was struck and killed by a Mobile and Ohio passenger train as she walked along the tracks near Citronelle, about 30 miles north of Mobile. Witnesses heard the train whistle, death was instantaneous, her husband works nearby and she leaves a 14-year-old daughter Lucille.

On the Washington Richmond highway near Fort Humphreys Virginia a 1.40 am collision between a Norfolk bound bus and a Richmond loaded egg truck killed three people and injured twelve.
