Police said a break in occurred at a Royal Street home during the early hours, with valuables valued at 69 dollars taken. An officer on rounds found the scene. investigators identified items including a .38 and .32 caliber pistol and other belongings stolen from multiple residences.
Wallace Andrews, 23, serving 17 years in Oklahoma State Penitentiary for burglary, alleges Myri Sizer a Mount Vernon Iowa school teacher disappeared after a quarrel and that he buried her body near Pierce. A search has not located a grave. Sizer vanished November 5, 1926. Andrews was at the penitentiary October 16.
C B Wheeler superintendent of construction for Southern California Edison said the loss of life is not expected to reach 30 or 35 men. He noted many workers were laid off Saturday and some left camp, with the camp population under 150. He based his estimate on accounts of floodwaters descending the mountain sides toward the workers’ shelter and the bodies found near their doors.
