Twenty seven defendants summoned by the last grand jury surrendered their federal revenue licenses and pledged to obey prohibition, with Judge B M Miller administering oaths and warning against future violations. The oath bound them to cease trade in liquor and not obtain licenses while the prohibition law remains in force. Continued on Page Seven.
Twenty four individuals indicted in connection with illegal liquor sales. Defendants include McGrath Connors Martin Roger and Potter among others, facing jail time if convicted.
A young naval officer, Virgil Griffin Jr., is reported dead after an incident at a hotel in Mobile. He traveled to visit his parents, Dr. Griffin and family, and was aboard the carrier earlier in his service.
The navy department announced the purchase of sixteen airships for coast and harbor defense. Contracts totalling about 609,250 go to Curtiss, Connecticut Aircraft, Goodyear Tire Rubber, and B F Goodrich. Ships measure 89 foot length and 50 foot height, equipped with radios and engines for 16 hour flights at 35 mph, with 45 mph max speed.

City detectives Newbern Harris and others found whiskey and gin at a Congress Street house. Sallie Brown claimed the liquor belonged to Adolph Weiss, a grocery store proprietor at the Con and Pine streets corner. Weiss faced charges at police headquarters for violating prohibition.
