Jersey City report states the county grand jury will weigh 14 000 cases of blue law violations after strict police enforcement across the county. The crackdown targeted drug and confectionery shops barbershops restaurants theaters and news stands with penalties set at one dollar and action proposed against all wilful violators following a church led campaign on Sunday movies.

Carlin high school site case partner Martin Van Heuvel, indicted for attempting to influence Dr. L. W. Roe, is set for trial Friday morning.
Henderson a negro from Point Clear, Baldwin county, is to stand trial for assault with intent to murder and alleged auto truck theft. Sheriff Ramy Stuart led the case. Henderson was moved to Bay Minette for trial after a Saturday night capture. Deputies Jeffers, Smith, Moore, and Bernstein pursued him through the day.

He allegedly had part of a quart bottle of whiskey under the office building on the wharf and was found with a considerable sum of money. A larger whiskey delivery was reported at the location today.
On the eve of Alabama’s first preferential presidential primary, Birmingham officials of Underwood Musgrove and Dinsmore issued divergent statements. Underwood allies predicted an overwhelming majority for Underwood, Musgrove backers spoke of a great dry victory, and Dinsmore supported McAdoo despite his absence from the campaign. Observers considered possible Klan influences in the state as votes near.
Representatives of several South Atlantic ports and inland rate men as well as railroad officials will attend a March 25 hearing in Mobile on suspended canned goods rates. Two ICC hearings are planned that week, including a proposed rise in port handling charges on shingles.
Willie Postes 23 of Moffat road was attacked while driving a car along Dauphin Way near Catherine Street. He was treated at City hospital then reported the assault. Police reported no further information from the witnesses or suspects.

Three arrests were made on charges of conspiracy to violate national prohibition law over the seizure of two quarts of liquor and an automobile by federal agents. The accused are Enoch Dees who drove the car and allegedly delivered liquor, Louis Nelson, and Walter Fletcher. Preliminary hearings are set for Dees on Tuesday and Nelson on Friday. Fletcher waived examination and remains in jail.
J. M. Northrop former cashier of the Bank of Atmore is serving two years in the Atlanta federal penitentiary. He will not face trial on an embezzlement charge of $10,000 from the Merchants Bank of Mobile. The case was pressed when called in circuit court today. Northrop earlier pleaded guilty to embezzling funds from Atmore. The greater part of the Merchants Bank funds was recovered.
The John D. Rockefeller, Standard Oil’s largest tanker, arrived in Mobile from New York to be cleaned and painted at Todd Drydocks. Captained by Shrietensen, the 4,374 ton vessel marks its first visit to Mobile, while its sister ship John D. Archibald was lost off Ireland in World War I.

Two cases of adulterated liquor were seized aboard the Norwegian steamer Betty, formerly the Hubvaango, today by Customs Inspectors Smith Oberkirch Vass and Tarrantes. The Munson Line ship arrived from New Orleans. No action against the ship beyond a fine, says the collector of customs.

The Mobile Rifles plan a semi annual inspection Wednesday at 7 PM at the armory. Commander J J Alvarez announced the event. Adjutant General Harvley A Moon and Captain William Fall of the regular U S Army will conduct the inspection, and the company property will also be checked on that date.
W. V. and Al Finch of Georgetown in the county’s northwestern area faced charges of interfering with train operations and using abusive language. They were granted a continuance until March 17 for arraignment in the inferior criminal court. Defense counsel requested time to summon witnesses.

E Y Clarke of Atlanta former imperial Klansman entered a guilty plea in a Houston federal court on a Mann Act charge. The court had earlier accepted a not guilty plea but the defense moved to withdraw it. Clarke posted $1000 bond in Atlanta. bond later raised to $5000. Trial marks third court appearance with no sentence yet.
The Southern Division of the American Bankers' League calls a March 29 conference in Asheville North Carolina to draft a tax bill for the Senate Finance Committee. Attendees will come from North Carolina South Carolina Virginia Tennessee Kentucky Georgia Alabama Mississippi Florida and Louisiana.
Houston police report Ed Williams a black man was shot and fatally wounded when he attempted a hold up of J M Davis a streetcar motorman in an isolated city area A negro passenger raised the alarm and William Brooks another passenger rushed to aid Davis and shot the bandit dulling the attempted crime
A. 8. Puckett pleaded guilty before Judge N. R. Clarke to possessing a gaming device at a grocery store on Hall's Mill road and Fulton road. He was fined 10 dollars plus court costs after federal and tax enforcement officers seized two slot machines from his establishment.
The destroyer John Francis Barnes sailed for Pensacola this morning after ten days in Mobile for Mardi Gras. Other destroyers will sail to join the squadron off Dry Tortugas for maneuvers in the Atlantic.
Chairman Madden of the appropriations committee urged opposition as he warned a potential mistake in adopting the Begg amendment. He predicted a record would be made on the schentenk urged members to oppose it and noted the government could recapture properties at Muscle Shoals if Ford failed to meet fertilizer production requirements. The amendment was broadened with changes reflecting national representation.
