Harvard University excavators report the discovery of a tomb in the pyramids of Cairo, believed to belong to Khufu, the ancient Egyptian ruler about 3,700 years before Christ. Allen Bowes led the digging as assistant director of the expedition.
Police report links Onie Whitmeyer, connected to the Shipping Board investigation, to a shooting on Lexington Avenue and Centre Street. The steamer Hisko, recently sold by the United States Shipping Board to Walker & Daly of New York, departed yesterday for New Orleans in tow of the tug Boswell from Lester F. Alexander & Company of New Orleans. It is the second former Shipping Board vessel sold from the laid up fleet at Twelve Mile Island to depart.

In Leip 1c Germany March 9 W Pert jeweler promises reward for recovery of his daughter Helen Reichert American musical student missing since a country wide search began. Parents left America to aid in finding her amid fears she may have harmed herself due to overwork before a series of concerts. Helen Reichert 26, studied music at Stuttgart and then at a local college.
John Gonzalez, Shine Tanner, William Redl, and others faced penalties in the circuit and inferior courts. Tanner and Redl were fined 50 dollars plus costs for violating prohibition, with Tanner receiving 80 days and three months extra hard labor. Gonzalez was fined 50 dollars and 20 days plus 60 in an inferior court after a raid. Ethel Brown and Aline Arrington pleaded guilty to assault and battery, each fined 50 dollars and 20 days. Jesse F. Hamilton failed to appear, bond forfeited, arrest warrant issued.
Sim Lewis, a negro, was fined 101 dollars and 560 days hard labor plus a year suspension after a Sunday morning chase from Elmira and Franklin to Mertz station. Motorcycle Officer Fred Olson testified five negroes jumped from the car during the pursuit and several fled the wreck on Hall's Mill road near Mertz. Lewis denied driving the car though witnesses said the vehicle was owned by him.
B. Sullivan was convicted by Judge N. R. Clarke and fined 100 dollars plus costs for 50 days with 90 days added for violating the prohibition law possession clause. Buck Thompson was fined 50 dollars and 20 days costs with 90 days added for the same offense. Zack Thompson faced 50 dollars and 20 days costs for violating state dry laws. Troy Miller held to circuit court on charge of unlawful manufacturing of prohibited liquors with 500 dollar bond awaiting grand jury action.
Seventeen thousand stems arrived last night on the United Company steamer from Tela. The cargo was unloaded as Honduras prepared to sail to Puerto Barrios with the fruit.

Fire Chief announces Roy Linville of Pumper Company No. 2 is dismissed for disobeying orders by leaving the dock fire to respond to a recent blaze. The department fought five minor fires caused by sparks on roofs at 904 Delaware 850 South Conception 1259 Government 1064 Texas and 101 South Ann streets.
The United States Shipping Board steamer Dannedaike reportedly collided with the Holland steamship Aalsum 26 miles south of Nantucket. Dannedaike, later said to be in Mobile in mid January and cleared at the Pensacola customs for Pensacola, sailed from Pensacola on February 18. The Raisum was reported sinking after the collision.
Belfast reports that dissolution of the Ulster government is likely within three weeks. The boundary commission proceedings have caused anxiety and are expected to dominate the general elections discussions.

New Orleans detectives hold Gordon alias Harry Sitomer in connection with the Louise Lawson and Dot King murders in New York. He is also sought for the May robbery of Mrs. Edna Johnson in New Orleans. NY officials plan to question him as a suspect in the New York cases.
Official investigation opened in the death of 20 year old Georgia Tech student Marchant Maddock who hanged himself in his dorm room. An inquest was delayed awaiting the arrival of his father George F Maddock from New York City. The student left two notes for his parents and the girl involved.

Funeral services were planned for a boy killed by police after an automobile chase during a series of robberies. Three bandits linked to 15 robberies since December were recaptured. Christian was shot at the wheel of a stolen auto and died after the chase.
An unidentified man was shot and killed after barricading himself in a cellar at 83 Union Street Jersey City. Police responded to a call from a resident and a second person was present. investigators sought to establish the man’s identity.
