Federal prisoners escape Gulfport jail two back in Mobile to face charges
Six escaped federal prisoners from Gulfport jail on February 12. Thomas C. Furbee age 33 and Bertrand Nordier 19 were arrested in Chicago February 19 for transporting a stolen car. They were brought to Mobile on removal orders and held in Mobile County Jail with a likelihood of return to Gulfport. The car belonging to Mrs. B. A. Spafford of Mobile was stolen, recovered in Chicago, and the two men, along with four others, were linked to the theft and escape. Nordier is a New Orleans native and Furbee’s age listed as 33.
