A murder trial for Dossy Rivers, 23, of Calvert Alabama, proceeds after a 65 hour mistrial in the Brill deputy case. A special venue of 100 men is drawn for jury selection as prosecutors seek a life or death verdict.
Mobile Fair Association to elect new directors at a stockholders meeting set for 7 30 p m. The group will organize for the year and discuss plans. The board of directors will meet later with all stockholders invited by James L Cawthon press.
General Chairman I C calls all committee members to a Chamber of Commerce meeting tonight to discuss April events for the Mobile Olympic games. The aquatic events are to be featured with plans to open water competitions as soon as entries open.
March 6 weather bulletin reports showers tonight and Tuesday with cooler temperatures in northern Alabama and Mississippi. Northwest areas to see unsettled conditions and cooler nights with probable showers in the south.
The final reloader tower unit for the government coal terminal near Blakely is shipped from the factory and will arrive in Mobile soon. Major North expects May 1 as the tentative completion date though multiple delays remain due to earlier design changes. Tests will use 6,000 tons of coal moved from Warrior River barges to ship holds with several government engineers attending.
Police from three states search for auto mechanic Ernest N. Cochran alias Cocky on a warrant for attempted homicide in a Sunday shooting incident at Royal and Government streets. Roy Shafer, also an auto mechanic, is hospitalized in critical condition with two gunshot wounds.
Referee in bankruptcy Joseph N. McAleer postponed the sale of Parcel 2 of the Mobile Shipbuilding company plant until April 7. Bids were due today, but cannot proceed until a clear deed is issued by the shipping board. This marks the second postponement.
Mobile lumber interests win relief as export and coastwise lumber rates remain unchanged despite domestic rate increases. R G Cobb of Mobile Chamber of Commerce reports that Southern Railway officials confirm Exports and coastwise charges will stay at current levels, benefiting mills on the Mobile and Ohio and Southern lines. The move follows Cobb’s petition to the Interstate Commerce Commission and prior statements that lumber rates would rise.
Bishop Edward P Allen calls a mass meeting at the McGill Institute Tuesday night at 7 30 to discuss Near East conditions. Armenian General Azgapetian and Dr Jacob David will speak on relief work and the famine. Donations may be sent to the rector or Austin Pharr at Peoples Bank.

Talbotton county grand jury meets to investigate Maj. Lee H. Coart former army officer charged with murder in the shooting of A B McNiece county school superintendent last October. Coart surrendered his pistol after the office shooting and McNiece died in Atlanta hospital. Mrs McNiece and Mrs Coart have been seen together. Coart says McNiece wrecked his home. If indicted he faces trial next Monday.
Twenty children of men sentenced to federal prison during World War I for espionage act violations travel to Washington to appeal to President Harding. The group, led by Mr. and Mrs. Frank P. O'Han, aims to present a single document arguing for clemency for 113 wartime political prisoners.
Washington March 6 A recommended appropriation of 34 978 043 dollars for the agricultural department for the next fiscal year shows a reduction of 3 710 026 from the current year and 1 554 835 from budget estimates as reported by the house appropriations committee.

New York March 6 Arrangements for the rehearing of charges of diverting industrial alcohol to beverage use against the Fleischmann Company Inc and 11 branch agencies in as many cities were completed by Internal Revenue Commissioner Blair after a conference with Prohibition Commissioner Haynes. The rehearing, on appeal, will be before Commissioner Blair tomorrow with no new evidence. testimony from the previous hearing and arguments from both sides will be heard. Blair aims to issue a decision as quickly as possible.
Milan March 6 reports that two thousand Italian soldiers carbinieri and royal guards maintain order in Fiume. Funerals for victims of clashes between fas citi and police were held with no demonstrations. About two hundred American tourists entered Fiume and were welcomed by locals.
Washington March 6. The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered a reduction in freight rates on petroleum and petroleum products from the Burke Burnett and Flanger fields in Texas to points in the Mississippi Valley and mid continent areas.
New York March 6. The list of stock brokerage houses reached the 50 mark today as Etting and Wall and I. B. Mullins and Co. filed voluntary bankruptcy petitions in federal court.

He says existing plants already involve billions and urges Goethals to supervise if accepted. The panel plans to consult treasury official Lee Mellor on financing.
Thetus W. Sims former congressman launched his bid for the Democratic nomination for United States senator at Lexington. G. T. Fitzhugh of Memphis also announced, speaking in Columbia as Austin P. Clarksville entered the governor’s race with a pledge to cut taxes, criticize the 1920 transport act, and urge national relief for soldiers if states fail to act.
Atlanta March 6 Louise Quinn employed in a railroad office was shot Saturday night by John A Pat who then killed himself. She suffered a flesh wound but should be able to attend the coroner's inquest this afternoon as they turn to the young woman and her home in an automobile from a downtown motion show.
