City commission debated the proposed 1.7 million street widening project to add 20 feet of width on three downtown arterials Dauphin St Emanuel St and St Francis St. The plan would recess building lines to create arcade passageways and remove certain streets from the white way proposal while weighing the city's authority and practicality.
The convict known as Tiny McQueen was sentenced to 19 years and 11 months for firing on deputy Sheriff Allerdeen in Wade County. George Jackson, a key state witness, disappeared as McQueen’s trial concluded, while cases against Dr. Hardy Havard and Louis Snow were reset. Snow remains jailed awaiting bond.
Francis M. Serda and three others were arrested on the Cedar Point road after 6 pm Saturday. Serda’s case was postponed for a continuance at the request of his counsel Edward J. Grove to review the evidence and investigate assault charges related to a scuffle in the county jail room.

Washington June 2 Members of a Republican national committee special panel arrived for a meeting with Secretary Hoover and Senator Curtis. They discussed a luncheon agenda and a rapid slate of committee officials and laws. Hoover will travel to California for formal nomination, Curtis to Kansas for notice.
A special dispatch cites Dixie Democrats resisting a strict enforcement plank, urging a stronger platform than Republicans. Governor Smith faces pressure as Davis and other supporters back a line opposing looser enforcement. The faction seeks to influence the convention selection amid internal divisions.
A. P. Arlington, a radio electrician for the coast guard, plans a joint line to connect navy army and coast guard stations along the gulf coast so government communications stay within three branches. He will visit Pensacola tomorrow to present his plan to the commander there. Previously some messages traveled over private wires.

The Alabama public service commission heard a complaint about Southern railway refusing to join with the Alabama Tennessee and Northern in traffic interchange at York. R G Cobb of Mobile Chamber of Commerce represented the commercial group and Alabama docks commission. John T Cochrane, president of ATN, attended with other railroad officials in Montgomery yesterday.

Albert Jones, a negro worker blasting stumps at the Kelly place, was fatally injured by a premature dynamite charge at Tacon station. He was rushed to City hospital where his recovery was described as despaired. The Roche ambulance transported him after the accident this morning.

City commissioners and the county board of revenue will meet at 10 30 o'clock Tuesday to decide on the petition by G A Leftwich and associates to establish a cemetery for Negroes near Toulminville. The matter, deemed outside city jurisdiction, was referred two months ago and discussed at length at the last board of revenue session. The conference is expected to settle the issue.
Attorney General Charlie C. McCall approves payment to Stone, attorney Matt H. Murphy, for 569.73 dollars covering salary, hotel, and travel. Books show the entry in Jefferson records on page 4, column 5.
