Contractors will star city work on central fire station
Work begins Monday to connect the central fire station on the city owned property in the triangle square with the eastern Wilkinson street, southern Springhill avenue, St. Francis street and Scott street boundaries. Jett Quill Construction Co was awarded the contract and tenants must vacate. The project includes removing a brick building fronting on the street and, under terms, all found property goes to the contractor while officials aim to preserve the tower heritage at Scott and St. Clair streets. The new fire station will include space for a fire alarm install, a city garage and a gasoline ring station.
