After a nightlong search of the beach and waters near Daphne's summer resort on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay, the body of Ruth Harrington, age four, was recovered. Authorities continue to investigate the tragedy.

Mobile moves to organize honorably discharged Negro soldiers into a post of the American Legion named the Car Post. The group has enrolled 609 members. originated from Lamer Y McLeod Post which will train and organize the men. The colored Red Circle will lead the effort.
Mrs. James Patterson of the Mobile association proposes planting oaks between Mobile and Chickasaw to honor Mobile soldiers. Each tree would bear a plate commemorating a local soldier, and the idea is under consideration by city organizations and churches.
Jack Lowrey and John A. Wens of Bayou la Batre Alabama demanded jury trials in inferior court this morning after arraignment on charges of violating the cattle dipping eradication law. They were released on bonds.
Taxi driver H Franelich admitted speeding and wrecking a post and his car on St Joseph and State streets. Judge Edington, moved by the honesty, reduced an initial ten day or ten dollar fine to five dollars or ten days. EB H Kelly, who drove a car involved, was not charged, Franelich pleaded guilty to speeding.
Elizabeth Kruempel and Rosa Lee Tucker both eleven were saved by Lester Tucker and two others after they ventured beyond the park limits into water over their heads. Edith Berger fourteen stayed afloat and helped herself. Child Welfare officials note the bathing beach new safety limits, while Kruempel thanks Tucker with a check for damages to his clothes.

The British government announces plans to send a naval force to Archangel in Russia to cover the evacuation of the district by troops there. A contingent of regular army men would assist as needed.

Knoxville Tenn July 31 Winfred Walker 18 arrested at Jefferson City near here on a charge of assaulting a ten year old white girl of a prominent family. He has been spirited away from Jefferson county for safekeeping elsewhere as crowds gathered to urge restraint and a trial was assured. He may be arraigned this week.

From Mexico City secret service men were sent to Tampico to gather evidence against foreign oil companies, aiming to curb perceived control of oil fields. The U S State Department notes the action and says only Pelaez is receiving company aid for protecting fields south of Tampico.
