Miami police probe a baffling discovery of 25 year old Raymond Smith, a truck driver, found nearly nude in the bottom of a large ice box unloaded at the Biscayne Terminal Company warehouse. Warehouse superintendent C. B. Allen discovered the body as Milam police begin inquiry.
Aubrey Boyles, former United States district attorney, was suspended for two years with the court taxing the cost of the trial. The Zuleita with 21 passengers reached Miami safe amid a fierce hurricane that struck Bimini. Owners G F Ellis and R M Hutchins described the storm as one of the most terrific ever seen with 100 mph winds. Damage included shattered windows, toppled churches, and wrecked liquor warehouses. No deaths reported at Bimini. In Nassau eight deaths were reported from the same storm, with property losses estimated at 4 to 5 million dollars.
The West Indian hurricane that swept the Florida, Georgia and South Carolina coasts caused only slight damage in Charleston. The Miami News reports the storm’s progress with early authentic details from Bimini and notes wind speeds around sixty four miles per hour.
A tropical disturbance near Jacksonville to Charleston continues moving northward with slight chances of striking the Atlantic coast. Advisory at 10 a.m. shows small craft warnings from Jacksonville to the Virginia Capes and coastal warnings for the region. The center lies northwest of Macon and remains a weather advisory concern for shipping and pleasure craft.

In Tia Juana Mexico July 29 D W Conlogue former business owner of Thomas M Peteet testified on day three of the Llanos case and two other defendants charged with offenses against Peteet's two daughters Clyde and Audrey. Witnesses said Peteet and family were often intoxicated during their San Diego visit before the girls were found dead in a gas-filled home. The girls alleged they were drugged and assaulted by Llanos Luis Amador Refugio Alvarez and Francisco Gonzales. Autopsy findings were read as the trial adjourned with more witnesses awaited and the jury likely not to retire before tomorrow.

Waverly Tennessee July 29 Albert Curtis 15 killed George W Crafton 70 with a plank at Sycamore Landing following a clash with Crafton s son Curtis held in jail on bond set at 5000 by order of his father Bob Curtis Benton county fearing vengeance from Crafton s many children Crafton a farmer preacher and father of 29 died after a confrontation that escalated from insults and a prior fight with Curtis s son. Jefferson Fields deputy sheriff reported Curtis was presented to a grand jury on an assault with intent to commit murder charge which was later changed to murder conduct near the scene of the crime.
