Seven Hurt Near Mobile in Early Morning Wrecks
A series of wrecks near Mobile left seven people injured and one dead. Lee Sullivan of Calvert was killed when a truck left the road at the Washington county line. Jeff Reed, also Calvert, was seriously hurt and Morgan remained in custody after a separate incident. Injured at Prichard when a motor car left the rails at a Mobile & Ohio crossing were Lindsay Browder, James Bockns, James Burand Bernon, with medical teams taking them to City hospital. A collision on Telegraph road at Prichard injured Mrs J Y Jackson, her daughter Gertrude, and Miss B Middlebrook.

Watts 16 Charged With Grand Larceny Referred to Juvenile Court
The case of a 16 year old Watts charged with grand larceny was referred to the juvenile court after arraignment in circuit court. He was taken into custody with Levaughn Shields in the Creola Company burglary in Creola Alabama. Shields had pleaded guilty recently and absolved Watts of blame. Watts fell ill at the county jail and was transferred to City hospital with non serious condition. Grant Harper pled guilty to a dry charge and fined $50 plus costs. Emory Owen pled guilty to petit larceny and received 60 days.

Witness Absent Delays Driving While Intoxicated Case
The case of Tom Wilson charged with driving an automobile while intoxicated was reset for August 6 due to the absence of key witness Roy Floyd. Floyd received an attachment order. Three Local Defendants Sentenced on Assault and Theft Charges

Victim Escapes Captors After Abduction Near St Genevieve
Sam Scorfina 43 a wealthy St. Louis grocer and alleged bootlegger escaped captors near St Genevieve Missouri after being seized Saturday night at the east approach to Eads bridge. He said he was held for ransom by four or five men in a car and could not reveal where he had been kept. He reached a farm house about midnight and was taken to St Genevieve for protection.

Camden Man Dies After Long Local Life
J R Liddell aged 81 died at his Camden residence at 7 AM. An Ohio native who came to Alabama in 1870, he ran a Camden mercantile business for 58 years and was a Wilcox County leader. An elder and Sunday school superintendent in the Presbyterian church he is survived by three sons Roy Glenn and Will all of Camden and six grandchildren. Burial from the Presbyterian church at 10 AM Friday with services by Dr Campbell.
