Genevieve Green 10 suffered severe injuries when a truck forced a car driven by Mrs. P. G. Mantell onto a ditch on Cedar Point road near Arlington street. Police hunt a described truck and driver amid vague identification from bystanders.
The Alabama Senate trims the annual state budget raising pay cuts for top officials. William F. board of administration loses 7500 to 6000 while 8 R Butler, tax commissioner, has pay cut to 6000 after 1931 as clerical costs shrink and prison funding rises modestly.
Mrs. W. G. Gerard formerly of Mobile and now in Bay St. Louis Mississippi was freed Wednesday on a 3000 dollar bond on three charges of disposing of property with a lien. She and her husband were brought here from the coast town by Deputy Fred Devise and Gerard remained in jail in the absence of 4000 dollars bail.
Miss Marjorie Malone of Spring Hill received a fourth continuance after arraignment on a threats to kill charge. Guy Cook, former filling station operator, again failed to appear, having left his job for New Orleans. The case was reset for August 10.
A masked bandit robbed Greer's Store 18 at Gaston and Adams streets Saturday night, taking 50 dollars. Tuesday night Tobbers cracked an eight car door, stealing many cigarettes and two dollars in pennies. Detectives Connick and Farmer found an electric clock early Wednesday, identified as Mc Dermott Advertising Service property and returned it.
Occasional rains and strong southeasterly winds expected Wednesday night into Thursday across the region. Coastal areas of Alabama and Mississippi face similar conditions with onshore winds from the southeast. River bulletin notes 7 a.m. CST observations dated July 15, 1931.

The War Department approved the Lower Northern Route for the intra coastal canal from Pensacola Bay to Mobile Bay. Major R A Sharrer announced the selection, deemed a Baldwin County victory. Dr. Edgar Gleaves and Lena Davis, his secretary, were released on bonds of 1000 dollars each on federal charges of using the mails to defraud in a national sale of a preparation advertised to restore virility. Indictments had been returned at the spring term. arrests were made yesterday. a third person is not yet arrested. The sales allegedly spanned several years and the company renamed its brand after a fraud order.
Gov Miller signed the Harrison bill allowing counties to use gasoline revenue for county road construction, expanding beyond repair and maintenance. He also signed the Hubbard bill about city boards, plus local measures including pension increase for Nancy Curtis and compensation for Woolsey Finnell and highway commission members related to flood damage to J. Birmingham furniture dealer W. D. Crews was killed in Homewood by a man suspected of attempted robbery. A suspect is being questioned as investigators say Crews was shot twice while his pockets were not rifled.
Track coach Francis Tad Gormley of Loyola University New Orleans wed Emma Belzons yesterday at St Agnes Church. The couple planned a honeymoon to New England and Canada. Gormley previously coached at Louisiana State University. Mrs Gormley is daughter of the late J A Belzons of Pointe Coupee parish.
Three persons died when a factory collapsed in Valparaiso as a storm swept Chile. The storm also sank several small boats along the coast and damaged the harbor.
Southern Products Company filed papers in probate court Wednesday morning to form a new firm with capital stock of 50000 dollars, 30000 dollars paid in. Incorporators include L. M. Sanders H. D. Khilders Elsie Platt and G. Reinharte.
Deputies Nelson and Moore seized two stills and a small amount of mash during a raid Tuesday night. The operation followed reports of illegal distilling activities in the area. No further details were released about suspects or locations.

In Tennessee near Paris and Big Sandy a bank robbery at Peoples Bank of Stanton yesterday left about $2,500 missing. Found floating checks letters and empty money bags in the Sandy River near Big Sandy suggest the bandits may have fled toward Mississippi in a blue sedan. Private detective John Fox believes the robbers may have drowned after a cap worn by the assailants was recovered from the river.
Customs Collector A. P. Hill and wife with daughters Lillian and Mary visit Mobile on their trip to New Orleans. They plan a few weeks there before returning to spend a week in Fairhope. Hill notes roads between their cities are in good condition.

R Green, described as a negro, was fined 25 days and costs for jet conduct. his wife Penny Green reportedly admitted spousal assault.
Five bandits robbed the First National Bank of Staples Minnesota during a payday heist. They forced a cashier and an officer to the floor and took money, with one gunman guarding the vault. No shots were fired. A similar robbery occurred in White Lake with $653 taken from the cashier yesterday.
A man in Ohlenstedt Bremen locks his four children and self inside a basement home and sets the house ablaze. Firemen report the building collapsed trapping and killing all five occupants.
