Violence flared as four day street car strike resumed with imported operators under guard. A car was attacked by a thousand protesters. two strikers were shot, including Sylvan Thibodeaux, who died later, and William Foret wounded. Police used shotguns and pistols while crews and bystanders clashed with bricks and clubs.
Kewanee Missouri July 5. Mayberry, 19, of Fort Wayne, shot Irma Hendershott, 16, at the Hendershott farm, then killed himself when Irma’s father William Hendershott, a New Madrid County resident, rushed up with a shotgun and fired. A defense wound and a field shooting witnessed by a wheat binder operator are noted. investigation continues.
In Paris on July 5 two alleged gang members William MacCherry aged 50 and Victor Lustig 39 alias Robert Miller were arrested by the U S secret service. They admitted plans to sell worthless American stock in a securities swindle at a Champs Elysees hotel. Capone in Philadelphia prison for weapons charges.
Radio reports from SAN PEDRO indicate the Lumber schooner Anne Hanify ran aground in Honda Bay Tuesday and began breaking up. Captain Frank Zaddert and 25 crewmen abandoned ship with no casualties reported as coast guard cutter Algonquin stood by.
A Chicago Tribune owned plane completed a 200 mile flight from Remi lake to Rupert House and reportedly remained airborne to receive weather updates from Fort Burwell. Officials cited low visibility causing a return to Rupert House while planning a route to Great Whale and Mount Evans. Co pilot Parker D. Cramer described conditions as ideal.
In Berlin New Hampshire on July 5 Dan Bosse, famed log roller of the Andros coggin, competes with Pearley Hurd, Connecticut champion, in a race to outlast the opponent on a rolling log. The event, part of a centennial celebration, drew thousands of dollars in betting as spectators watched who would stay aboard longest.
Investigation started in Tampa to determine cause of a locomotive boiler explosion on a Seaboard Air Lines phosphate train near Brewster. Two Gee ete crew members were killed, and a third man, W. W. Flowers of Tampa, was severely scalded and not expected to recover.
Police arrested two Black men after a theft case under investigation. Chief War- conducted a morning inquiry following a radio message from Segrets. authorities released scant details while pursuing leads.
Fifteen people were injured when the observation car of a Burlington train struck the Frisco local, pushing passengers from the two Frisco coaches and smashing a side of one coach. Ambulances transported victims to city hospitals with many others suffering minor cuts and bruises.

Fra Florida July 5 Governor Doyle E Carlton granted a seven day reprieve to Britt Pringle, a white man under death sentence for killing a Negro just one hour before the scheduled execution. The reprieve followed a plea filed with Tallahassee officials by Pringle's counsel. Pringle had stated he was ready to die like a man.
Governor Graves plans to seek information from Judge McCall and assistants as the probe into former Mobile County commissioner BH Booth continues. Indictment cites six counts alleging Booth sold oyster shells to the county. Booth surrendered and posted $6500 bail.
Major General James E Fechet chief of the army air corps and Representative W Frank James concluded an inspection tour of Maxwell Field Alabama. They will travel by plane to Washington and onward to St Petersburg Cuba Puerto Rico and Panama before heading to the Pacific coast to assess construction needs and housing for army air posts. Reports are due to the House Military Affairs Committee in October.
A bill introduced in the Costa Rican congress would require religious training in schools and repeal a law barring religious communities. President Cleto Gonzalez Viquez warned he would veto the measure if approved, and noted fears about a Jesuit return.
Spartanburg county officers sought clues to identify the burglars who hammered a bank office in Spartanburg City. The entry was made with broken locks and no explosives used. Ben Ma was the victim noted in the early report from Spartanburg.

At Asheville North Carolina July 5 the Lou Newspapers Publishers Association unanimously adopted a resolution denouncing the purchase of newspapers by interests affiliated with or identified with the power and news print industry. John D. Ewing introduced the measure at the request of his ill father Colonel Robert Ewing.

The petition seeking revocation of Camille Hughes parole was continued to Monday before Judge Robert T. The defendant, arrested on a bench warrant, is alleged to have violated parole after a two year sentence under good behavior.
Lester Dossett was arrested today by Deputy Marsha Frank Phillians on a charge of violating the national prohibition law. He was scheduled to make bond.

Howard. Several other defendants facing robbery, assault to murder, burglary, grand larceny, and other charges in connected indictments.
Sam Brown and Bill Riley were arraigned before Acting Justice T. J. Touart and fined $50 plus costs for alleged violations of the prohibition law. Brown was said to have beer in his possession while Riley was found with a gallon of whiskey.
Cody at 154 North Cedar street told Patrolman Sam Hyland a thief entered his room and stole 22.05 in cash from trouser pockets. Police say the theft is under investigation.
The coroner believes Robert Grant's head was severed by a tool as part of an alleged whiskey still plot. Suspects Bert Bilis Lee Morris and others are jailed without bond after Grant's body was found in Catfish Bayou near Twelve Mile Island.
Lieutenant F O rs, an army pilot, filed a sealed report to federal authorities after reaching 19 900 feet above Albany airport. The climb beat the prior record by 400 feet set by Captain De Haviland. The flight began at 7 o clock and lasted about an hour and a half with outside air temperature at 12 degrees below zero.
The Mobile and Ohio railroad published a rate on phosphate from Mobile to Meridian as reported by the Chamber of Commerce traffic desk. The notice says Florida barge shipments move inland, with Nashville and Louis railroad planning routes from Pittsburgh to Mobile for shipment to the Pacific coast.
