Police report a surge in thefts of parked autos and store break ins. A coat containing a $90 Southern Railway check and clothing was stolen from a car on 60 South Hallett Street. Other incidents include a spare tire removal on Jackson Street and a battery theft from a car on Levert Avenue.
County commissioners weigh selling 240000 of road and bridge bonds from a 5 million issue as urged by county highway engineer John R. Peavy to fund the Moffat road and others. The board also considers dirt costs, notes a Bayonne road fund, and notes no authority to open registration books before the city election.
The world flying pair Wiley Post and Harold Gatty near completion of their 16 000 mile north circle are to receive a grand welcome in New York with a Broadway parade and a city hall ceremony.
