A U S gunman shot cashier William Reidy 37 at the De Luxe Cab Company in Montreal as he defended about $15,000 in a locked office. Reidy died 20 minutes later. police arrested two men and two women later, names withheld.
Three officers of the Home Savings Bank in Wilmington North Carolina were arrested on charges of false entry after a reported $160,000 discrepancy. Jesse F. Roache cashier M D Clark assistant cashier and D M Armstrong trust officer were named. Clark and Armstrong posted bond while Roache claimed illness and was confined at home awaiting a hearing.
Levert Gomez was fined 100 dollars and 30 days costs by Judge J. Touart for violating state dry laws. C. J. Wallace and Mattie Coleman paid 50 dollars and 20 days costs for possession of prohibited liquors. Alten Powell received 75 dollars and 75 days costs for city prohibition violations. A. Womack and Harry Snell alias Smith faced charges of carrying deadly weapons in inferior criminal court.
Thieves forced entry to the Weinacker filling station at Government and Catherine streets early Monday, broke a pay-station telephone, and stole 50 cents. Police were notified. James G. Britton of 10 North Monterey Street reported his gold watch stolen to police headquarters.
