The new Mobile customs court will convene for the first time to hear cases arising from appeals in the Mobile district. Judges and justices, including the presiding judge, will compose the panel. origins of many cases are from New Orleans or New York venues.
Solomon Henderson died from gunshot wounds after Maud Henderson, 35, his wife, allegedly shot him at a county poor asylum area. She is held without bail on a murder charge as details say she reached under his pillow for a pistol and fired twice into his back.
Police investigate a false alarm summoned to the fire department from Washington Avenue and South Carolina Street at 12 o clock Friday morning. Fire Chief Gus Rehm notes alarms are down but originate from new areas as detectives continue undercover work to trap vandals.
Federal agents Graves Walz and Hudson along with a county deputy sheriff assisted in a Thursday raid on a small still in the western county near Tanner Ferry Road. No arrests were reported.
Mobile county did not meet its contract for monthly maintenance of the Mobile Winter Visitors' Club. Secretary George A. Zolezzi stated the board should pay about 800 dollars and approved the club's request for a monthly payment plan. The club has begun charging for information on road conditions and related services.

The Whistler general store of R. D. Dansby was burglarized after midnight Thursday with a large haul including five dozen shirts five cartons of cigarettes two hams four sides of bacon coffee lard and dry goods. Entry was via cut screen and door transom and the burglars left through the front door likely in a truck.
J A Blunt former president of the First National bank of Greensboro Hale county posted 2500 bond before US Commissioner J Irwin Burgett on charges of violating national banking laws. Indictment claims he took money on notes left as collateral that lacked value to cover the sums. The federal grand jury returned the indictment last week.
William Teeling, an English Conservative, tours Canada and the United States to study unemployment and relief projects. In Mobile he meets with local unemployment representatives and discusses future political plans and a book. He predicts the United States may adopt some form of unemployment insurance, clarifies the English dole as municipal relief rather than government aid, and notes the dole matches the community system.

New York authorities ruled Dr Charles Brancati dead in a Bronx surrogate decision ending the mystery after his disappearance two weeks after Arnold Rothstein was murdered. Relatives sought closure of the estate amid findings linking Brancati to Rothstein and large withdrawals from a brokerage account.
A car wreck near Adel Georgia killed Charlie Dietz of Chattanooga Tennessee and injured Chester O Thompson also of Chattanooga. Thompson was hospitalized in Tifton with a broken arm facial injuries and shock.
